Verde Valley

Our History

Manzanita Outreach, a 501-c-3 humanitarian nonprofit organization, was formed by Kim Gould and Karen Freeman in 2011 following a trip to Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake. Manzanita Outreach received its initial backing from four local churches, Mtn. View Methodist, Verde Baptist, Camp Verde Christian, and Verde Valley Christian Church. With their donations Manzanita Outreach was able to join or ‘become a satellite’ of Kids Against Hunger. Under our umbrella organization, we became a satellite and do business as Kids Against Hunger.

Kids Against Hunger Verde Valley first began partnering with Christian Light Foundation to help the locals in Gonaives and Jubilee, Haiti. At that time there was only a small orphanage and a school which doubled as a medical clinic.

Since 2011 we have:

  • provided a solar power generator to Haiti
  • supplied funds to help the local Haitians build a clinic
