Since 2011, we have packaged over 825,000 meals. 650,000 of those meals have been shipped to Gonaives and Jubilee, Haiti. We have been able to transport our packaged foot to Haiti by using the Air National Guard’s Denton Shipping Program. We work with Mission Lifeline in Haiti to get our food from the port to Gonaives and Jubilee. There have been many changes in the ministry in Jubilee since 2011. There is now a new school with over 114 children, and there are now more Haitian teachers than American. It is KAH food that feeds these children and staff daily, and we also have supported them financially and with teaching materials. We have also helped the funding and supplying of a brand new medical clinic, overseen by Cody Smith, Brian's wife. We helped the process of getting a donated solar generator (by a local here, Julia Hutton) moved there, which now powers the clinic and the irrigation of the community garden. Haitian community health care workers are also being trained. Kim and Karen have assisted in medical clinics on their yearly visits. A community well now provides clean water for all to use.
Not only does Kids Against Hunger Verde Valley provide food for Jubilee, we also are now providing food to 4-5 orphanages, which in turn support several village feeding programs in and around Gonaives.
The ministry in Gonaives, which oversees the school and medical clinic, and houses missionaries as they come, is now under the management of Beaver and Kathy Brooks of Much Ministries. Kathy Brooks has also begun a trade school called 2nd Story Goods, which trains and enables local artisans to create and market local goods.
